“The Language of Gardening: Describing the 50 Shades of Green”
Mary-Jane Pilgrim joined the Hort Society and the Master Gardeners just 3 years ago to get out of “house jail” after years and years of shuttling kids to arenas to play rep hockey. She is a new Master Gardener and is impressed with the people she has met so far on her horticultural journey. The love of gardening is probably hereditary as she grew up in a large farm family with Dutch immigrant parents. Learning the language of gardening began with a heavy involvement in the Grace Christian Academy plant sale which many of you will remember.
When she’s not talking to people about dirt, plants and gardening stuff, MJ can be found at Trent University in the “online learning” department co-ordinating Trent’s online course offerings. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics/Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Educational Technology. She also enjoys golfing, playing squash and making stained glass windows.
